No, actually bought this wrap from Jammin' Sams and used his "tape" method. I was very pleased with the results.

Great looking kit and nice job on the rewrap! What colour wrap was on it originally? Any before pics? I've been considering trying the Jammin Sam's tape method on a project myself.

Thanks!

Green sparkle, but the wrap was already removed by the previous owner. I bought this as part of a large lot of drums and hardware. The lugs, badges, etc. were gathered together and stored in plastic bags. Most of what I needed to complete this kit was in the lot (including heads) and what wasn't there I either already had or just picked up on eBay.

Yes -- but (now, please, nobody shoot me!) I just used Krylon spray paint, white semi-gloss. Didn't try to find the "exact match" paint. I think it came out well, however.

BTW -- the foldout spurs are Danmar reproductions, and the brackets are new Ludwig.

No worries about the paint, you did a great job rescuing some beat drums, they look like they sound good!

Bill, how did I miss this thread? Great job buddy! Those look fantastic! You're interior paint looks find n dandy to me. I mean you brought these back from the 'foot in the grave' point.

Excellent!

Everyone --
Thanks for all of the positive comments!
I do have more Ludwig 60s orphan shells that are going to get the same treatment, but my Slingerland "Jet" repro set is closer so it's coming first.
I'll be posting progress pics on both projects along the way.
BTW -- I'm "financing" both projects (and at least two more) by moving some of the stuff I've accumulated. Please see threads "HELP!! Parts 1 and 2" in the "For Sale" category. I also so trades...
Thanks,
Bill

That sure is a beautiful kit, Bill. Great job with the rewrap. That BOP is beautiful! What are the drum sizes? Is a rewrap using the tape method difficult? the video on jaminsam.com makes it seem like a snap.

14x22, 16x16, and 9x13.

Using Sam's tape method is easy for the most part. I've found that getting everything square and tight isn't as easy as it looks, though, but my wife provides the necessary extra hands. The biggest issue is to NOT get into a hurry.

Once the wrap is on, however, the hardest part is drilling out the holes. It is absolutely neccessary to follow his instructions carefully by holding a piece of wood (I used a piece of a 2x4) in place on the outside while drilling from the inside, or there is the real possibility of letting sawdust (plastic dust? -- the shavings from drilling through the wrap) get down between the wrap and the shell (yes even when the wrap is stretched as tightly as possible, it will "give" enough for that to happen!)... and again, by not being in a hurry and letting the drill do the work (instead of impatiently pushing the drill through) it makes even that a lot easier.

(If you can't tell, I consider myself to be an impatient person and sometimes make mistakes along those lines...) :)
