Haskell W. Harr Mahogany Field Snare

Hi guys, the Fungus is back again (I love referring to myself in the 3rd person) with another of my favorites. This is a 1967-68 Haskell W. Harr Mahogany Field snare. This drums is complete right down to the drum key. To date, this is one of my biggest scores ever on the Bay...I paid a little over $30 for it! Some kid had wrapped it in blue tape (school colors?) that looked like painters tape & nobody bid on it...but I did! Hardware is NOB & the shell is a 15x12, 3 ply Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany Slingy workhorse.

I have 5 other pre 1960's & a couple 70's Slingy's in progress now, they are:

1948 14x7 Super Radio King
1953-55 14x5.5 Radio King - a true "Road Kill" project
1952 14x5.5 Student Radio King - Masonite shell
(2) 1930's Military Feild Drums 14x10
1972-74 Kruppa Sound King
1970's? Kruppa Super Sound King

Thanks kevins...I was in the process of posting almost the same pic! LOL! (Still trying to figure out some of the site functions)

Serial number is 187,426 which (theoretically) places it late 1967 or 1968, could be 1969 but I doubt it.

Twin Streamline lugs & Zoomatic strainers were only available on the H.W.H. & the Contest model Parade drums, but the Contest model had wood hoops.

I did make an error on my description of the shell, this is a Mahogany/Poplar/Maple 3-ply not a Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany. Slingy changed to the Maple interior ply in mid 1963 according to the Vintage Guide.

Cool old snares, guys. I'm glad these old field/marching type drums are included, here on the forum. I can't remember what type snare I used back in my marching band days. Gotta be a pic somewhere.

this is a HH model that I sold on ebay months ago, it was a sweet sounding drum.

SWEEEEEET! I love these old marchers, used one in the 80's as a side snare & it just killed! Thanks for the view!Cool1

Very-Very Nice Kevins! My other Student RK has the dog-tag badge but Beavertail lugs and Masonite shell. Needless to say the Blue & Silver Duco is really chipped up but can't bring myself to re-do the finish. It's a very odd looking looking drum, looks like Slingy thru together a bunch of spare parts, which could very well might be the story behind it. In the process of getting her back together, will post pics when she's done.
