Found this tidy little sparkler in a garage in Toronto along with its buddy a nice clean Supra!. It was covered in a nice coat of dust and grime with some very slight pitting. Date stamped Jan25,1967 with original front bass head.
She cleans up pretty good...

That's got to be an amazing feeling to find those dusty beauties stashed away in some garage. It's never happened to me but I'm happy for you. Those are time capsule sweet and they cleaned up nicely. And a Supra to boot! Sound good as well? Congrats!

Thanks,

The old original heads were still on the drums. When I took the old heads off, here's what I found...so as you say, they were truly time capsules, never having the heads changed!

It's not often you see zero fade like that. Wow!

Yes, the shells and the wrap were all in 9.5/10 shape.

Thanks people!
Its not often you find a zero-fade kit. I was delighted to find it and see the gem through the dust!

Kevins, it does sound as good as it looks.. Walking

I just actually sold the kit. I kept the Supra that came with it and teamed the clubbies up with its natural partner... a nice mid-sixties Acrolite. The buyer was very happy!

Cheers!

Beautiful. It's not often you get a real "garage find" like that in Toronto -- I think the drum market here was just so much smaller in the 60s that there aren't that many great vintage kits to be found. Congratulations!

True enough! The real markets were New York, Chicago, California, Florida, England. Canada was very much an after-thought for Ludwig, Rogers and Gretsch.

awesome, clubdate, love the paint and glue smell of unmolested drum shell interiors. btw why does the exercise ball always endup in the practice room, every time I go in there, it's snuggling up to one of my drum kits!

Clubdate '64 I really admire the Club Date kits. Great appeal for the musician on the run!

I found another one last week covered in beige latex paint, see this thread and picture http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=25361
Upon taking the head off the 14" floor tom there was another time capsule! The smell of the old glue and paint wafted up to my nose and there was the date stamp clear as day, "July 22 1965". I'm heading out today to pick up the Graffiti Off product recommended by Purdie Shuffle. Thanks PS.

I share the same room with my exercise partner, that's why the big exercise ball.

Cheers!
