My Dad purchased this used set for me in 1963. 1-ply snare w/ clamshell strainer.
They were "on loan" for over 25 years and recently retrieved...the picture you see is after a thorough cleaning, where I took them down to the wrap which is still perfectly intact...simply cleaned the wrap with a damp sponge and used chrome polish on the hardware and reassembled. I did strip and repaint the BD hoops, and replaced the inlays. It's a testament to how good quality lasts.
