Japanese drums of the 60's had great wraps. Nice looking set.

Thanks for sharing. Your kit looks brand new. The wrap reminds me of my Slingerland Red Tiger kit.

If it sounds as great as it looks it's a definite "keeper!"

thanks for the kind comments. It's really more a credit to the condition of the kit before i even started pulling apart. It was in fine, unmolested condition. Never been taken apart either. It's pretty well made too. The shell quality is a big step up from my other MIJ kits.

They will get a good run out over the coming weeks - lots of gigs on at the moment.

If anyone is restoring one of these kits and needs any parts I may be able to help. This kit came with all the parts off another similar kit. There is already one forum member interested in the BD tom mount (just needs a tom now). I also have a clean 13" tom (see pic) in orange from the same vintage if someone needs one to complete a set. I'm not actively trying to sell this stuff it's just there should someone have a genuine need.

I Love them!

I had a set of these same drums in high school. I wish I'd never sold them.

Cool!
We all have tales of stuff we wish we hadn't sold. But you can't keep it all and the $$ were probably useful at the time.

Recently found, bought, and restored this 1968 vintage Yamaha snare drum. Stamped "68" inside the shell. Last thing I need to do is find the top of the handle of the throw off to complete it.

Yep, the wrap is a bona-fide winner. Right out of the 50's. I love it.

I've sent you an email Luke but for anyone else looking in the future (I think the missing handle will be a common problem as they are not held on by much) here is a pic of my original Yamaha lever with a Star one on the left. They are a bit different and the thread is different but nothing that couldn't be modified. The Star ones are common on other stencil snares and will be easier to find.

Good luck
