Wow! I am overwhelmed by the kind words. This is the third kit in the last year I have carefully restored as I have taken some time off to enjoy my old love. Our family has been in the percussion world for well over 100 years combined and we love playing, collecting and restoring drums. I think this one is a keeper as my family gave me the similar set when I was about six and I enjoyed until my early 20's. I have watched these forums for sometime and finally decided to post one of our vintage sets. Hopefully we can get to the Chicago show this year and if any can suggest some Southern California events that would be great. My dad who is in drummers heaven with Buddy right now is looking down right now and smiling.

LOL, yup. I have a Zidjian A thin and stand on the way. I had so many Zildjians, percussion equipment a mid 60's Rogers WMP and a Slingerland and they were stolen from our vacation home and it has been devastating. I have gone to the extent of running ads on craigslist under wanted drums but never found the thief. Basically I stored all my vintage percussion equipment there and it's all gone. The positive part is it has rejuvenated my love for collecting and restoring them.

OK, I added a cymbal for you, lol. After the break in of our vacation home I need to start adding things. You need more cymbals though!Walking

Great looking kit.
Thanks for sharing!
In my humble opinion, your kit hasn't "yellowed" at all, it's simply "mellowed"!

Thanks again everyone! And I agree with "Old School", it has mellowed not yellowed...and really it has not much "yellowed" either.

What is the actual date? I was born on Dec 18 1970. I actually have a 22,12,13,16 wmp Ludwig with Dec 18 1970 stamped in the floor tom. The set is kind of whooped and was that way when I got it but I had to have it because it was made the day I was born.
Nice set you have!

Dates are October and November 1970, can't remember actual day but can check if needed? Please post pics of yours and if I can answer any questions please feel free to ask. Some Ludwig shells were the scarf joint shells from the 60s and some the newer method where the wrap is put on after, mine is the latter. As you are probably aware Ludwig wasted no parts and put together what was available at the moment so some people got a mixture of both and some even got both keystone and b/o badges. There is a video floating around youtube of mine as well. Happy restoration! It's the labor of love.
