I am trying to proceed with a Slingerland Snare restoration (early-mid '60's I think.... Niles badge# 112290) Upon disassembly, I have noticed the shell is dented/ compressed on the bottom (at snare bed ) on both sides. How someone did this, I will never know!! My question is... Any suggestions as to how to straighten shell and flange edge? (to restore to original before reassembly) Thanks!

That is the way it is supposed to be, so just leave it and start playing.

Stuart, More than likely, your Shell is Chrome over Brass. A simple test would be to take a magnet to the Shell. If it doesn't stick, the Shell is Brass. Mark
