I LOVE his hat snare bass interplay. He has a style all his own. This is something missing from a lot of the drummers these days. Check out the hat work in that first video. Man, nothing but slick.

Cool. Love those Sonors :D.
And it's probably just me, but I can't help but feel like he's sitting practically on the ground in that first video. Don't know why

Glad you guys liked them. No kidding MrTurd, I don't know how he can be confortable sitting that low, and playing trad grip with his snare angled like that! He sure played well, but It don't look too comfy !:p

Smith is a monster drummer, and technically incredible. I have seen him a few times with his band Vital Information and I can't even follow what he does...yes I can hear it, but not follow it.....and he no longer sits that low....
If you guys want to hear a great CD get his Vital Information, Live At Mars.
It will blow you away.....
Thanks for posting...Smith is the man....and a great guy to boot......

I'm just adding to John G's post. The scary part about Steve Smith is how much better he gets EVERY YEAR! His last clinic was mind blowing. Steve Smith did a solo, on just hihat, man..it was crazy. All his Indian rhythm influences, jazz, groove, ruddiments, and he played in one of the biggest rock bands. Oh, he couldn't be a nicer guy. A true drumming great.
