Anyone interested in a trade for a DW kit like this one? The kit has an 8x12,14x14,16x18, 5x14. I'm looking for a vintage Ludwig or Slingerland in white marine pearl. Thanks.

Well, you guys just proved my point, put a DW up for trade and you get bombarded with messages. The Premier kit I have blows the DW away, but it get's no response. It's all about the name, too bad. BTW, the DW is stored away and it will stay there. I'm out of here.

As hard as it is going to be to believe, I wasn't saying that with my little clappy guy. I was making a statement of agreement that people are crazy for jumping on DWs over a vintage Premier kit.
Now that I look at what you are talking about ... that's pretty funny.

I had several private messages sent to me in less than a day after posting this. People are so fooled by the DW marketing machine, they are like little robots, they see DW and they gravitate to it, not even knowing why.

People are so fooled by the DW marketing machine, they are like little robots, they see DW and they gravitate to it, not even knowing why. This finds me rather perplexed at you, You offer one of only a thousand of the kits you trade or whatever, and you get angry because for once you have something of value to someone then complain about it because no one will but this other kit that I have, Genuinely take your meds!!!! JR let me explain this for you real simply, Like it or not you obviously don't like Dw as others on this forum here ,DW Is America's Top drum company simply fact, Premier is a non existent line out of business, So who at this time has a more desirable product DW not Premier, also the premier kit has a hanging floor tom No thank you what crap! and in closing I just viewed all of your threads they are all either sale or trade ads, the vids you've post are also a sales ad, my point you kick your feet and scream like a damn child when the kit you want to sale gets no response yet a kit you don't even own, gets a large response, then have the nerve or stupidity to attack the members of this forum, your a class act pal!!! you add no knowledge to the forum and then whine when it doesn't do what you want??????????????

Excuse me, but my point is that people don't seem to care about quality, only the name. The Signia line is heads above any DW kit I've seen. The quality and craftsmanship is second to none. DW on the other hand, while is a good drum, is way overated, like I said, they have good marketing. Premier is still around, they have been making quality drums since the 1920's and are still in business. Premier, unfortunately, suffers from poor marketing and have made some bad business decisions. If you're only buying a drum because of its name then you're cheating yourself, buy a drum because of the quality and sound. I don't dislike DW, I just know they are not the best drums on the market.

And you missed my point you , I've owned a premier kit, I now have a dw kit, they both have there place, and premier is not in business at this time they are restructuring as we speak to get a US distributor! And Now the real reason, Don't post a kit you don't have that is a catalog scan of the DW kit, also as far as sales go I would rather have a floor tom as most drummer agree, the premier kit has a hanging tom, YUCK!!! How about posting something on the forum beside sales and trade Ad's????

Premier is still in business in Europe, I just went to their website, they even brough back the Genista line. I'll bet you've never owned a Premier Signia kit, for if you did, you would sell that DW. The hanging floor tom is not my favorire either, but it still sounds great and that was the big thing back in the 80's and 90's. I'm going to remedy that by adding legs to the tom or I may trade the 12x14 for a 16x16 if I can swing the deal. Keep your DW's, anyone can buy one, but the Premier Signia line is discontinued so it's makes them harder to find. The only reason I had tried to trade was because I thought maybe, with a great kit like this one, I could entice someone to trade a vintage Ludwig or Slingerland kit in white marine pearl. I've been after one for years, but they have eluded me or have been too pricy.

Please don't take this as an attack. I'm honestly curious about something.
You've posted lots of kits for sale or trade. How is it you've never just picked up a kit like you want? If you have a lot of kits, why not just sell a couple of them and get what you want?
Don't get me wrong, I'm on my own quests. But I don't have two or three different kits up for sale every week or three.

i don't know why you guys think I have more than one kit. I have one kit, the Premier Signia. I trade or sell drums, that's why it appears I have more than one. I've had tons of nice kits, but only on a few occasions have I had more than one at a time. I have been looking for a Ludwig or Slingerland white marine pearl for a long time, I either could not get the person to trade or I did not have the money. No big mystery, I just like to wheel and deal.

Johnny I can tell you've never owned a business, if you did it went belly up!!!, here I'll write your copy for you, I have a premier kit I would like to trade for a WMP Ludwig, slingerland rogers etc wmp only no other color please!! give it a try????

I,ve owned old and new Premier kits and i loved them, but im a junky and buy and sell just to get my hands on as much product as i can.I have a 70,s Gretsch kit that stays with me,but the rest is mostly for fun.I,ve learned to never "tell" people whats good, bad,or indifferent.Let them make thier own conclusions,as most already have im sure. There are a few other "know it alls"on other forums and we know how obnoxious they are.Y,all should just take a deep breath and start over. This thread started out harmless,im sure there is no foul intended.

I'm no whiner, I just made an observation, people are looking for a name rather than quality. When I first put the Premier kit up for trade and had no responses, I said I'll bet if this was a DW, I'd have to beat them off with a stick. Why? The quality and certainly not the sound of a DW is better than this Premier kit, the price tag on both kits are about the same. I was at a drum shop today and the owner had a Premier catalog from around 2000, it had an 18x22 Premier Signia kick, like mine, listed at $1,300. So if it's not the quality or price, then what is it? Simple, the name.
People like myself are not jealous or dislike DW, we just don't understand how so many people have fallen into the DW spell. That somehow DW drums are better than any drum on the planet, the owners of DW are slick marketers, but in no way their drums are superior to any others. In fact, to me, DW's for the most part are one trick pony's, not too versatile. I've heard many DW kick drums sound thuddy and are lacking of resonance.
The drum owner I saw today just had another DW traded to him towards a custom kit he makes. He said a lot of drummers are disappointed with their DW's so they trade them in and he makes them a kit. Then because their are so many DW robots out there drinking the DW kool-aid, he is able to resell a 6 year old kit for $2,000, go figure.

Don't discount the fact that many potential buyers/traders simply may have never heard a kit like yours live let alone demo'ed one. However there is a great deal more familiarity with the ubiquitous DW's, hence the willingness to take on one of their kits.
I have heard but not play the Premiers and thought they sounded great. But I'm also a guy that will attribute the sound more to the drummer and the heads than to the "shell" itself (Don't know if you saw that video I posted of a discarded Ford rim that some guy turned into a great sounding snare - although tuned a bit high for my taste- for an example of what I mean).

Well, if that's the case, then we should all chuck our big expensive drums and buy cb 700's. The shell constuction, bearing edges and finish on drums has a lot to do with the sound as well as the look.
I understand what you're saying about a DW compared to a Premier Signia, sure, more people have heard DW's, but I thought the vast majority of the guys on here were very knowledgeable about drum gear. It's really not hard to find videos of guys playing a Signia kit, they are all over youtube. Any drummer that knows quality, ought to know about all the big drum companies. It's not like Premier just materialized overnight, the company has been around for nearly 100 years and the Signia line had a good 10 to 15 year run.

Okay, so you've convinced us of Premier's superiority. Now why don't you just keep it and quit trying to sell/trade a kit every other week.:confused:

Why? I don't know why. I don't believe Premier drums are superior, but I also don't believe they get the respect they deserve.

America makes very few products of any kind but DW happens to be one of them.. they are excellent marketers but just because a company is out of business does not mean that their product is inferior in comparison to a company still in business ... the mess we are in today is because of greed, and false advertisement, and poor management of many companies ,bank setc etc, I know speaking just for myself I would never buy DW,Yammaha,or Pearl, and I also know I would rather own a 1968 dodge charger than a 2010 dodge charger.
Americans today buy on implulse 80% of the time maybe us old folks just remember back when stuff was made good....

i think the reason u got so many responses on the DW was due to the sizes listed. it seems everyone loves and 18" kick! u should have listed the DW with the exact sizes as your premier kit, then u could have had a solid ground for your experiment.
