I'm currently looking at a Slingerland snare for sale $250 on CL. It has 10 lugs and the TDR strainer. serial # 230265. What model is this drum? Is that a fair price?

Buddy Rich Model... not sure about the price, this model seems to go for higher than most of the others of this era, but not sure in this ecconomy if $250 is a deal or not.

Well I lucked out and got this drum. I picked it up yesterday after work. The guy I bought it from is a pro trumpet player. A drummer friend of his gave him 2 slingys and he decided to sell both. We went back and forth emailing offers and counter offers and then he didn't reply for 2 days, so I figured ok, someone paid him what he was asking so better luck next time. Then yesterday he emails me and says yes, I will sell it for the last offer I made. Needless to say, I was surprised and excited, ecstatic. We met at a Walgreens near his house and made the exchange and just chatted for 30 minutes until the heavens opened up. Just before it started to rain he mentioned that a guy came by a day ago and tried them both and decided he wanted the other slingy snare. It was a 6-lug covered in the Blue ripple wrap. He said it was stamped 1961. Earlier a drummer friend of mine emailed me that he had just bought a slingy and was very happy with it. A 1961 Hollywood Ace. More on that later. I asked the seller is the guys name Paul (my buddy) and he said yes, thats the guys name Paul (Last name here). I just laughed and told him, "I know that guy and he just emailed me that he bought a slingy snare." Here are pics I took. Haven't played it and I will clean her up over this 3 day weekend. My wife calls this stuff my Drum adventures.

Congrats on the snare! I saw that blue ripple and almost emailed the guy, was it a 6lug or a hollywood ace? I thought it was 6 and decided to pass.

Ryan, Yes, that's the other part of the story. The guy that bought it emailed me saying he had just bought a Hollywood Ace so I didn't put 2 & 2 together because the Blue ripple was a 6 lug. I originally told the seller that I thought it was a student model and I looked in the catalogues and decided it was a student model with the optional triple flange hoops. Here's a pic that the buyer sent me, not the best pic. I asked if he could send me better pics for posterity. I love that wrap though, very nice although the seller did mention that the seam was separating a bit.
