I found someone selling some 1960's Ludwig Club Date drums. It is a 3 piece, no snare.

The wrap was taken off and stained a mahogany color some time ago (I don't think they did that color origianlly,,,did they?). And the rail mount was relocated on the drum.

It appears that everything is there except some tension rods for the 12" tom.

What would a good price be to pay for something like this? The chrome is all in good shape, the only issues are the rail mount and the finish, and the finish doesn't look horrible!

Thanks for any help, as always.

Kevin, can you get some pics of the kit?

Here are some crummy pictures, sorry but it is what I have available. Oh, and I told him he can keep the snare that is pictured. And the cymbals are anything to get excited over. I think he was aiming for someone looking for something to bang on, and needing everything to start.

Why the Heck would you mount a rail mount like that for??? anyway I think the finish is factory, the center cymbal mount is stock! offer them $200.00 or maybe $250.00 no more!

Wow, I thought a club date would go for a little more than that. But, you think the finish might be factory? Well, that's a little more in the kit's favor, haha!

Yes, it comes with cymbals, however they are brass yamaha and other crap cymbals.

with, the extra holes. only 3 drums, missing parts! your somewhere in the price range I quoted!

well it was worth a shot that the cymbals might be something good.

but ya that price quote is about right at the most. i wouldn't do much more then that though.

i would start by asking for even less then that. in my experience, most of the time when you see the drums in person they are worse off then they show in the pictures.

so i would offer your price in person instead of over the phone. you might say a price over the phone and get there and realize that it's not even worth that.

but i bet you can get a good deal out of this one.

good luck my friend!

That kit's been messed with a bit--the rail's in a weird place (usually on top), & the cymbal mount has some cobbled together block that's probably covering a large double-tom mount hole. A good candidate for a re-wrap. It looks like they are 22, 13,16--a little less desirable than the smaller usual Clubdate sizes. I'd say $250. is fair, if they are the drums you want....marko

Thanks for the help, what is interesting, is that I don't think I knew they did the Club Dates in larger sizes...just when you think you know something about drums, haha. The sizes are 12, 14, and 22.

They aren't really drums that I want, but the pricing he and I discussed seemed pretty decent. I thought I would be able to turn them around to sell them for more than what he was asking, but apparrantly not. Oh well.

Thanks again everyone!

Kevin, you run a drum shop, correct? I would give it a run. You never know, someone in the foot traffic moght fall in love with them if they are clean and in good enough condition, you know?

Well, the store is a full line store, not just drums. I personally like to go around and find used and vintage stuff to sell to guys on here and ebay.

Oh well, not every drum can be pure gold!
