I have a 76' 6.5 Ludwig Black Beauty with the engraved flowers on the shell and a 5" standard Black Beauty. Both in Exec. condition.

Hi Dewey,
I know a few years ago, one at the Chicago show sold for around 2 grand if I'm not mistaken. Prices across the board have fallen, so I would think that it'd bring less than the 2,000. There are several very good vintage guys here, so maybe someone can give you today's value. I'd also check a few vintage sites that may have one for sale, to see what they're going for.

My sense is this: The 6.5 will bring more than the 5" because I believe you find fewer examples of the 6.5s. My guesstimate would be in the $1500-$1700 range for the 5" and maybe $1700-$2000 for the 6.5. These estimates would assume that the drums are in really excellent original condition.
