i've got a 70s Sonor kit and have no idea how to attach the cymbal stand on the kick.
also, to preserve the wood, should i not even attempt this?
here are pix of the parts. the kick drum has a matching piece like the oblong one pictured, but i think something else is missing...

Looks like ( and this is just and assumption ) that the oblong piece shown would attatch via a few screws. Is there matching holes in the bass drum? Or perhaps the other piece on the bass drum it self has the same hole pattern? I can't imagine any other way in which it would have been connected. Can you take a pic of where it should go on the bass drum.

Well for one thing, your tilter isn't a Sonor part... that piece is an early WFL/Ludwig tilter/top, late 40's/50's vintage! Yes, it would appear that you are missing a few parts. Perhaps a Sonor player/enthusiest will be able to chime in. In the meanwhile, I thought you might want to know about the tilter.

These tilters are generally in the $15.00 to $25.00 range... but ... like anything else, if you had it up on eBay and two people were looking for one at the same time, it could go for a bit more.
I have a couple of these with my WFL kit. They're made out of nickel, and work very well given their era!
