Kick Muffler

I have a 57-59 Sling kit in quite decent shape and the bass drum has a muffler built in that you move back and forth from a turning screw on top of the drum.Nothing fancy,except a couple of guys informed me that Slingerland never offered such a thing and this must be a home made fitting.Problem; the hardware matches the rest of the set....Does anyone know if Sling did offer these mufflers at some point?......thx

Slingerland put those in a lot of bass drums in the late '50s. Sometimes they put on one for each head. Most likely it's original.
