First, I am going to post a picture of the stamp on my Zildjian 22" inch ride
I think the stamp looks like a 1960's stamp but Im not sure.
Please help me date this cymbal and give me what its worth!
If I get good responses I will then post the pictures of the stamps of my vintage Zildjian hi-hats.
Thanks!https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=b7b80fb292&view=att&th=12967a47ba86da7c&attid=0.1&disp=inline&zw

whats that supposed to mean?

Well how about submitting some photos that actually work, just for starters.

We're good at this sort of thing around here, but we don't do dating of cymbals by using mental telepathy.

At least not yet anyway.

It means, go ahead and post your picture.........:)
If I can't see it, I bet you can't see it either, and if you and I can't see it, I'll bet no one else can see it as well.
See ?
And lucky you, probably the world's foremost authority on all things Zildjian is here, awaiting your picture.........:)

Marlowe.... look at your post...
Do you see a picture?
Cause, we don't....
If you do see one, you might consider the possibility that you are the only one seeing it. It's only your imagination. Just go with it dude.... Ride the snake, the snake is long, seven miles.... the blue bus, is calling us.....

You probably need to reduce the size of your pics, brother

Man, I'm gonna have to pass on this for now.... it's too late for "This Old House" to help you tonight.
If you are still struggling tomorrow, I'll be happy to give you a call, and we can walk through posting a picture together on the phone.
Peace, bro, and welcome to the Forum.......:)

You are such a troublemaker.Kleening

Mr. Marlow,
The reason for the cryptic responses is ... your cymbals have yet to appear in this thread. My guess is you need some assistance in getting your pics or your links to work. Please, read the sticky bits first. After that, one of us will give you a hand.

I realize it's probably going to sound hollow, but "welcome". Sincerely, "welcome". We're a good bunch of guys and girls who love vintage equipment. We (most of us) love to make each other laugh and truly have fun. Don't take any of this gentle kidding personally. We were laughing at the situation, not at you. It struck us as very funny that time and again - no pics. That's all. Nothing more.

....Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
'Tis the wind and nothing more!'

Yopu could google resize photos, there are m any online apps that will do this for free, and then you can post here. If you scroll down the page while typing, you will find a button that says"Manage Attachemnts" this is where you post pix from. If they are not able to post because of size, this is what to do. Then you don't have to do the cut and paste, hoping it works, or you could just copy and paste the pix....

We have liftoff. The duck has entered the sloop. Manfred salad coat. I repeat: Manfred salad coat.

Your picture is showing up. Excellent. It's a bit small, but it's there. So, got any more?

Middle 1960's.

So that means your cymbal is probably worth around $150 to $200 depending mostly on what it weighs.

marlow125
06-25-2010, 04:22 PM
Ok thank you
sorry for all the confusion
Now how do i go about weighing it? and if it weighs more is it worth more and vice versa or it is the other way around?

mcjnic
06-25-2010, 04:38 PM
Weighing it is the easy part. Take a duck and place it on the ... tell me you have a duck ...

Ok. Don't panic. Do the postal thing. Take it to the post shoppe.

marlow125
06-25-2010, 04:41 PM
alright
and what does the weight do to its worth?

mcjnic
06-25-2010, 05:22 PM
Thin ones weigh less and are very sensitive - valuable.

Thicker ones are more pingy and not so jazz-like - pretty good money.

Super thick ones are relegated to boat anchor duty - pay someone to properly dispose.

marlow125
06-25-2010, 05:40 PM
how should i go about selling this?
stupid question but ebay is my choice right now
is there some special place that buys this stuff?

mcjnic
06-25-2010, 05:55 PM
Yes. My wife. She buys me all sorts of neato toys.

Barring that ...

You might want to post it here. Take some nice pics of ... wait. Strike that. We really don't need to revisit that whole picture fiasco again.

Tell ya what. Why don't you just post it for sale in the ... get this ... "For Sale" thread ... pretty clever, huh... i know ... slap de man!

That would get you up and running like a bad dog. There are plenty of drummers here that love these old cymbals. We've established the base value (still awaiting the weight to put the final numbers on it). So, that should get you something.

You could also put it up on ebay. There's plenty of mooks out there that love these discs, too.

The best way to sell a cymbal is to post a soundfile or videofile with it. That allows the potential buyer to get an idea of the quality of sound. Everybody has a different set of ears and that can throw a weasel into the well-oiled gears of a deal.

Hope this helps.

ok thank you lol
I am going to the post office tomorrow to weigh it and i will tell you the weight on here

marlow125
06-26-2010, 12:11 PM
So I went to the post office and found out its weight
2619 grams is the weight of the cymbal
I plugged it in on here and it says its a medium cymbal
So now what is the price so i can post it on ebay?

Drumaholic
06-26-2010, 10:21 PM
Figure closer to the low end of that price range.
