Vintage Slingerland Shell Composition

Are there any gurus out there that know what type of wood the Slingerland Shells are composed of from the 30's to the 60's? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

I had started this page with the help of another collector, but it has been shelved since it began. You will see notes where I'm supposed to put images etc.. It will answer some questions and shed some light on Slingerland shells.
