Cymbals packaged with kits?

Just a quick question regarding cymbals and if certain ones came packaged or sold as an option for certain Ludwig kits. I just measured my cymbals but have not weighed them, and I am trying to figure out what each is for. I have some idea, but without measuring the weight, I don't know if I have two ride cymbals or if some are meant for crash. Did this set of cymbals come with or sold separately with my Hollywood Ludwig kit? circa 1968
Paiste Formula 602 22"
Paiste Formula 602 19"
Paiste Formula 602 20" "sizzle" 8 rivets
Zildjian Avedis 18"
Zildjian 14" Hi-Hat "Top New Beat"

I know the 22" must be a ride and the 14" is obviously the hi-hat. Without weighing the others, what are they for?

They're for whatever you want them to be for. I use a Paiste 2002 Black Label Ride as a crash sometimes during a gig. Depends on what the song calls for...

Try this (http://users.rcn.com/cwalter1/cymbalweight/) to help determine some of your questions, but use 'em for what they sound good for.

I wasn't sure if the original owner of the kit picked up whatever cymbals suited his style at the time and purchased them one by one, or if he bought the kit and cymbals as some sort of package...

Back in the day there were certain "stock" cymbals in old drum company catalogues.... and oftentimes these were packaged/sold with the kits.

Gretsch had K. Zildjian and Ajaha, Slingy had Alejian (A.Zildjian stencils), Luddy had Zenjian - then the Ludwig Paiste Standards - then ones made by Tosco, Italy...Rogers had Pashas for a while (which were Italian-made)...& some company had Zilcos (again A.Zildjian stencils) but I cannot recall which (?) These just to name a few.

I do not believe that old A. Zildjians or Paiste 602's were ever part of drum 'packages'...at least not mfr's packages....those were high-end cymbals for the most part; maybe they were part of individual music store drum-cymbal packages.

Those are very nice cymbals you have there ! Are the 602's Blue Ink or no-ink logo ? Can you post some pics ? Am particularly curious about the sizzle ride...you do not see too many of those 602 sizzle cymbals....

602s were packaged with Ludwigs in the catalogs. You need look no further then the 1967 catalog here:

Well, there you have it. Ludwig and Paiste in bed together.
All of the Paiste are no ink. So I should stick the 19" Paiste where the 18" Zildjian currently lives? The A Zildjian is pretty thick and sounds a bit bell like. I posted a few pics.

The 20" sizzle and the 22" are most likely intended as rides and the 19" and 18" are most likely crashes.
