Hey Kev! Love your deep blue Slingy. Man ... that's a beaut.
Jonni, sadly no. There is no cure. But, you are allowed to enjoy the ride! That's a bit of consolation. Love that WMP, by the by. That wrap is unreal. I typed a PM for that one several times and deleted over and over. I just never could bring myself to cross into the MIJ waters while being overwhelmed with US goods. You did GREAT on that purchase.

There's a beautiful 13 and a 14 snare here in that finish. The seller has a 14 floor that has a crack in it and a 20 bass that needs work. I passed. Am still considering snagging that 13 and snare. Man, they are beautiful.

I don't know if Wayne has one on his floor, .... but I do.
The snare is in the first pic.... on the left between the RK and the aluminum Slingy snares.

Speaking of that illness, HERE'S something I'm sure you've NEVER heard before:
"So how many drum kits can you play at one time anyway?????"

I've had kits that were monsters - could be broken up into several kits. How many kits could I play at once? Four.

Aaaaah, Vmore, I am SOOOOOOO busted:
<with tail between legs>
I'm only a novice drummer, still taking lessons after 5 years.... my sadness over not starting drums until I was 45 is ONLY (but most satisfyingly) assuaged by the fact that I have collected some DAMNED FINE drum kits!
Bottome line: barely one!

Hmmmm Anybody know where I can get a copy of the "big book" for Drumaholics Anonymous?

... and we could make bumper stickers:
One Beat at a time or
A friend of Gene's (and Buddy, John, Neil, et. al.) or
Flam and let live etc.

I can't seem to get my individual storage drawers labeled correctly. I know I want a section of drawers for Slingerland hardware/screws, a section for Ludwig hardware/screws, and a section for Rogers hardware/screws. So, now I've got my Ludwig washers next to my Slingerland tension screws next to my Rogers lugs next to my Slingerland floor tom leg mounts next to my Ludwig claws! Ahhhhh!!!! I have the really cool label maker and everything. I just can't seem to bring myself to do it. Anyone else suffer from this?

Okay guys, we need to start the VDA Group (Vintage Drums Anonymous) ASAP! I'm in deep and need some support. I'm well past the recreational and denial stages of collecting. Make no mistake, I'm not looking to be cured - just some support is all. Good to know I'm not alone.

Alright, okay... I have a calling. I will take it upon myself, with some trepidation mind you. I will be the Grand Wazoo VDA guy. Now, we will have our own type of twelve steps. I'll need help defining those steps, so please chime in (darn! percussion speak) please speak up and give us your input on what the steps should be.
I will need a few High Wazoo's of course. Please post your resume in this thread for consideration.
Accolade status will be bestowed upon all willing vintage percussionists as soon as the tithe items are received and accepted.
VDA Sainthood will be bestowed upon anyone tithing a Gladstone snare (restored if needed)
Lessor venerable positions are available upon request.
Thank you...Toilet

I SWEAR there is NO cure!! I love every aspect of this "hobby", I love the hunt, the find, the bidding, the restoration, the finished projects...and starting it all again...and yes, I like all of you guys.
1. First Step - You MUST delete your ebay account and your PayPal account. Craigslist and Craiglook must be deleted from your favorites and history. Any and all searching bot programs must be deleted from your computer.
2. Acting like you enjoy antique shopping with your wife. You know the only reason you're going is the hope and prayer that a 20's Black Beauty is sitting there waiting for you take it home for $50.
3. No, you don't need any antique china from that estate sale...see #2.

That's a great disease to have! It's awesome that your keeping these drums alive. They're often overlooked as restoration projects but are much better drums than given credit for.Nice work!

Dude you gotta see it!!! The acting is fairly lousy and so are the effects but in such an awesome way! It's the movie that inspired the artist Shepard Fairey's OBEY art work and was even parodied by South Park. The story is soo good but I don't wanna give anything away.If you dig alien conspiracy, this movie is a must see

....oh God...I went to the door this afternoon and there was a box on my stoop...swear, I don't remember ever bidding on the damned thing...it's a 14" Kent tom I apparently won on ebay...and I got it out to find....no wrap, but the drum has been PAINTED! And poorly...so what do I leave for FB, since I won't ever send it back...nowhere in the post did it state "drum has been painted blue"....I thought it was a blue wrap. Now I have a shell that I wanted to strip to bare and match to others for a jungle kit, using it for the floor tom...what to do...?
This is how the disease is affecting me...and a chrome snare on the way as well, I remember it, I got it for the kid...but damn....I need a sponsor....quickly!

John, is the blue Kent 14" tom a floor tom or a marching snare? What's your take on it? Is it a mess? Are there bearing edges? If you would, post a pic or two, or start a thread!

OK, Gilnar, I give up....
I googled "Sysl krysu nenahradi!" and all found was that if you say it backwards at 33 1/3 rpm it sounds like "I am the walrus"....
What's it mean?

It means "Gopher can't replace rat," but it is deliberately written with a typo.

OK, well, here is the poop on the poop. It is a 13, red sparkle under blue paint. 2 ply maple, and no edge, almost flat, so I cannot sat "no edges"...I am thinking about not paying for it, but that really wouldn't be an honset thing to do. I contacted the seller. Post forthcoming. See "ebay section".

Ok the disease gets worse. I just acquired a really nice 70's oval badge cob dynasonic from a forum member. It is a really cool piece though. It even came with the original rogers vinyl case and owners manual - what else could I do.
Just another tool in the chest I quess and proof positive that there is no cure for the disease.

OK. I think I need an intervention - add a camco oaklawn 20 12 14 blue sparkle kit to the list of really cool gear. Now I need the snare to match or at least a COB. But the disease may officially be terminal at this point
