I was in a local music store tonight and they had an old Supraphonic with a keystone "WFL" badge. It did NOT have the blue oval transition badge. It had a baseball-bat muffler. Otherwise, looked like a normal Supra.

Anyone know anything about the approx. date of this drum? Would it be a brass drum? As far as what I know, the plain WFL badge places it c. mid '50s...possibly among the earliest true Supras?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Charles

If it has the WFL badge, it's from the late '50s. It was called the Super" then, and there's a good chance it is brass. You should try to snag it if the price is reasonable. A brass one is a $500 drum.

Rich,

Thanks for the reply. I went back to look at the drum some more and I noticed that it has a Ludwig P83 strainer (script "Ludwig" logo on it) and script Ludwig butt plate, the hardware you'd see typically mid-'60s. It also has the WHITE baseball-bat muffler.

Are all these the correct parts for this drum, or should WFL drums definitely NOT have Ludwig-branded hardware on them?

Thanks,
Charles

It has which badge...WFL or Ludwig with serial #'s?? Sounds like a 65 & up 60's Supra.
