Just finished restoring my '59 or '60 WMP Slingerland bass drum. This was my first restoration project and lots of fun! All said and done, I filled 20 holes in the shell, patched the wrap with some "new" old WMP (thanks Mcjnic), refinished the hoops, replaced some Rogers swivo spurs with original Slingerland bass drum spurs (thanks Vadrums), replaced some non Slingerland tom mounts with a Slingy cymbal mount and W&A tom holder (thanks Mikey777) and cleaned and polished all the hardware. Waiting for a '58 Super Gene Krupa snare drum in the mail as I type :). I'll post some more pics when it arrives.
Thanks to all who provided information, advice, and kind words along the way. You guys are a really great bunch. Enjoy the pics! Oh, and for before pics just search my user name in the Restoration part of the forum.

Really nice job, can hardly see any holes! That wrap is still pretty white, not very "Mellow". I have the same drum, how does it sound?

I think the drum looks more white than mellow too. It sat in a dark closet for 15 years at my parents home and it spent the prior 15 yrs (at least) in my friend's attic. I think all that time not being exposed to UV rays and smokey bars did the wrap good :).
Oh and it sounds great! I can't believe how much punch this little 20 inch drum has. It sounds big.

That looks great! Very nice job. I love 20" bass drums for their punch. Enjoy your new treasure!
