I picked this one up on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. It was in pretty rough shape as far as ring seperation, rust, and grunge but was easily within the range of saving.

I had to clean, polish, find COB hoops and toss some wires and heads on it.

The chrome is a little rough but this drum mechanically very very sound. It is going to be a player so no biggie. If I get a chance I will pull the top head and get some interior pics.

Now let me tell you something about the sound...WOW! It is crisp. This is a thin shelled solid maple and it really has a crack to it. I was blown away with the sound and would buy another one in a heart beat to restore.

Cya,

Mike

You bet, 4" at a time, really slow going and had to go at it with a couple of different syringes. The reason it was slow going was the shell had bowed a little at the top away from the ring so I had to take it easy with the clamps, torque, etc. as to not crack the shell.

So you're the one who outbid me at the last second! Hahaha, great job on the restoration, looks very nice! You can't beat a single ply Slingy in my opinion.

Sorry bud! I really wanted it for a couple of reasons, one it's an RK, second my first kit was an orange sparkle slingy so it puts a little smile on my face when I see it.

Oh a couple of other things that I did to it, I felted the lugs and put new springs in the clamshells.
