I played on a white Tama once - think it was an early 80's kit, and sounded massive. I sometimes think about trying to get hold of one. I hear the old superstars were good vitage drums for a big sound, but I'm not well up on my Tama - any ideas, thoughts, etc?

The old superstars are amazing kits. And very much worth what you pay for them.Sadly the newer line isn't what the old ones were. Its basically rhe rockstar with a changed name.I would say look for one and go for it.Definatly not a bad kit to own and most are priced within reason.

Hi! Got a vintage Tama Superstar! It's a sunburst, 6-peice, double bass kit. (2x22, 16, 14, 13, with 14x51/2 snare). It was ?200, with some extras too, so think it was worth it. Will post serial numbers, and would greatly appreciate it if someone who knows anything about Tamas could date them from this?

I do all my current gigs on some 83' Superstars. I use 10,12,13,16,24 and alternate between my 8 x 14 Superstar snare, 5 1/2 x 14 starclassic performer, & 6 1/2 x 14 Ludwig supraphonic snare. I love the Superstars. I actually ordered them back in 83'. Are these actually considered vintage now?
