Ok, I had an occasion arise to kick me in gear. an to restore the drumcraft snare drum myself. here are before and after, I need to do the rims still, and need three t-rods weird size? I spent almost as much time as if I were working on a real vintage drum I care about wfl, ludwig, leedy, slingerland, gretsch, etc!, I am going to sale the drum now! anywho, here it is.

Looking good.

So surprised that drum has no ply seperation from setting out in nature.

Was it hiding under a big fig leaf? :)

That is quite rare. I have never seen a Drumcraft field snare before. Must have been used by a field band.

I may have missed this earlier, but how did you clean the wood so nicely? Did you sand it? Looks very nice.

JamesJames, yes, I used an electric orbital sander, also repaired all the ply separation. Surprisingly there wasn't much of it.

.....hehehehe.....field drum....and I thought I was the only one that would waste...er...spend that much time on a beat up MIC snare...hope it sounds at least decent. Use an Aquarian Z-100 on the batter.

Man, you did a hell of a job! Beautiful! What did you use to get rid of the heavy rust? You are to be congratulated, sir!!!

brian, thank you, I'm not kidding, this was freaking work. I used. C.L.R. calcium, lime, rust, remover, it works slow and that's what I wanted to as not to remove to much chrome, what was left from the chemical bath, I used a dremel tool, with a brass round brush wheel to buff out the rest of it. it will be on ebay tonight. thank you.
