I was fortunate enough to find a Rogers Wine Red-Ripple Pearl Kit this afternoon at an unbelievable price. It's definitely a "player's" kit with some issues but I couldn't pass it up for the asking price. Along with the drums themselves (14x20 / 9x13 / 9x13 / 16x16) the seller threw in a PDP gray fade snare dum, a PDP throne, Slingerland Dynamo Hi-Hat Stand with 2 Paiste Formula 602 13 inch cymbals, a Paiste Medium Thin 16 inch cymbal, original Rogers Swiv-O-Matic double tom mount & L-arms, and original Rogers Swiv-O-Matic cymbal arm.
All drums are Cleveland-era Holiday models with closely matching serial numbers. The kit's missing some hardware (bottom rims & t-rods, one bass drum hoop), but nothing that I don't believe I'll have trouble locating.
I haven't had the chance yet to do any cleaning or polishing. I apologize. However, I wanted to post a few pics of the kit AS IS and also include a pic (last one) of three extra holes that are found on each of the rack toms in a section directly opposite the area where the Rogers script badges are mounted. I can't imagine what the intent was for these holes. They're in the identical location on both rack toms. Any ideas?
THANKS for looking!

Hey! Nice find. If you want to trade that tom tree with the holders...I'm open. I'm looking for that (amongst other things). For the record, that snare is unbelievable. I had one in Maple finish and the thing played outstanding. Nice color on yours. Very nice. I have a Rogers Powertone snare shell that would look good with your kit ... if you want. I don't have the hoops, though. I'll look around and see what I might have to help you. Again, nice score.

Alright. Lets hear it. How much did you pay?
I would love to have a wrr kit. Almost had one together a few years back, but finding an affordable floor tom was just impossible and so I gave up and sold my 20 inch bass drum and 12 inch tom in hopes of coming across as complete set some day. Still have a mint B+B Spotlight snare in mint condition tho!
Killer find! Congrats!

Verra nice! That's a lovely kit you've got, in a lovely finish.
I'll second Michael's comment about the PDP snare. I found one in Midnight Pearl and actually use it with my Gretsch kit more than I use the Gretsch snare. From what I understand, the maple PDP drums are the same shells as the DWs--just without re-rings and with different hardware. Very good drums for the money. That's a great finish on yours!

THANKS to everyone for the positive comments to date!
I spoke to the prior owner today and solved the mystery regarding the extra holes in the toms. He's the original owner of the kit and had installed light elements in each of the toms "back in the day."

Great score! It looks more of a pink ripple than wine red tho...

PLOUGHMAN: I realize that you are without a doubt the WRR expert, so I appreciate your input. Is it safe to assume that no-one currently makes WRR bass drum hoop in-lays? I would think that even if they did, it would be next to impossible to match the original wrap on the kit. Am I correct? I'm also in need of one (1) Rogers' Knobby mount. Any idea where I might be able to find one at a reasonable price? THANKS!

It is not being produced, which in reality for us...... is probably a good thing. You might try Bobby Chiasson or Jack Lawton to see if they have any scraps of wrap in their stocks. Otherwise, wait for a donor drum to pop up. As for your extra holes........Jack Lawton would be your go to man for that. I may have an extra knobby laying around, I will check. If its good I will make you a deal.
