Hi, I bought a Radio King snare drum.
and the holes of lugs on the shell are larger so the lugs move depending on the tension between the top and the bottom head.
The seller says this is common for Slingerland, and it's from the factory.
He seems to have a lot of knowledge about vintage drums, so I want to believe him.
Anyone know the fact?

Disassembled countless Slingerland snares.
Never heard of holes so oversized the lugs would move...

Never heard of holes so over-sized the lugs would move...AS my fellow forum member, I own several rk snare drums, and in fact all the holes fit quiet snuggle, and i have disassembled a few slingerland snare drums in my day and no oversized holes as of yet!!.Keep on Pl

Hi, Me too, with over 30 years+ restoring vintage drums and with all the r.k. snares i have restored I have never seen oversized holes like that..To me the drum does not look right, iam thinking it may not be a r.k. snare why it looks like it has white paint in side shell[last photo]?? the plastic looks wrong around the hole also[last photo] drum could have been a rewrapped,to me this drum could have been a 60s Ludwig wood snare made to look like a r.k. snare...If i was you i would check the Badge see if the badge has been removed,i would also check the shell see if you can see the plys vintage r.k. snares are one ply shells with rings...if you can post a photo of the ring inside shell that will tell alot about the drum...Oh one last thing the shell could have been wet at one time making the wood softer around the holes...Mikey
