Birds "Nested" Drums

Hmm. The Slingerland Nested drums!

There is alot going on in this photo and I'm sure our resident Slingerland expert DrCJW could tell more then me.

Firstly, look at the holes in the bearing edges on the floor tom!! Then the floor tom has a different interior finish. The smaller toms look like a high gloss paint.

It seems all the sets made in that configuration were made in blue ripple, until that finish was discontinued, and then they used sky blue pearl. Slingerland painted the inside of the mounted tom shells blue, and put a blue vinyl tape covering on the edges. I don't think they did this to all the sets, maybe just the early versions.
