Found this kit, but looks suspicious. Am I correct that this was never a Slingy catalogued color?

That looks like authentic Ludwig oyster blue with a slingy badge...but the grommet looks messed with. I'd love to know the rest of the story...

My first thought was it is just a faded Slingy Black Oyster - but even the pattern doesn't appear to be that Help2 what does the inside of the shell look like ? Does it look like a Slingy shell ? Yeah - the grommet appears rough around edges

I can't find that finish in any Slingerland catalogue that I've got. I agree with Rich K. that the grommet definitely looks "rough" and/or tampered with.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. As suggested, it looks like a Ludwig wrap to me, but why would anybody put a Slingy badge on the kit? I've emailed the seller for any info that he may be aware of in regards to the drums' history.

Not even Little Bud would put a wrap seam in that location. There is little doubt what this is.

It's either a re-wrap... or an old Japanese shell, rebadged....methinks...

...the Japanese Oyster wraps in the '60's were quite awesome-looking, actually....

The Japanese wouldn`t put a seam right next to an ID badge either- must be a thoughtless mistake on a re-wrap. Sumo Dude

Drum interior will tell all....could be that on those drums, the badge wasn't grommetted, it could have been a sticker-badge applied elsewhere on the drum....a'la Whitehall or such....

Has anyone even thought that it could be a really straight crack all the way across? I know the odds are extreme for something like that, but......could happen and from this pic, it is not really clear, so it could be a crack. It just doesn't look 100% straight, looks maybe fuzzy, or jagged to my sorry eyes.

Well, on second thought, and a closer look, yeah, it looks like a seam more I look at it.
