I have a rogers wood dynasonic in my possession that looks like the drum on the snare pages here. The drum is said to be from 1970 but the shell on mine is the XP8 style shell ie no reinforcing rings. The serial number is D 118xxx. I would think this drum is from 1976ish myself. What sort of value does this drum have.

Thanks for the help,

Dave

Ive got two of those, an 8x14 Dynasonic, from about 1980, and a 6.5x14 from 1983. Both are great drums.
Value? It can vary, last year a 6.5x14 sold for almost a grand on ebay, but, I dont think thats yet a realistic price.

Thanks for the info:
Here is a quick picture of the uncleaned drum complete with blood splatter on the batter head. Did they really make these into the mid eighties? This is a great fat sounding drum even with the beat heads on.

So what's the verdict? Big R Dynasonic? Wood shell? Natural finish? What is a fair range of value?

Value. ...............is relative. Relative to the beauty of the drum and the desire of who wants it and the owners seperation point.

Most of these are selling between 300 and 600. A few have gone higher, a couple have gone lower.

But given a decent drum......in that size.....you can expect it to sell somewhere in that range on ebay.
